Stephen is a licensed architect with 32 years of experience with 30 of those years at PSA. He is directly responsible for client interface and managing Parette Somjen Architect project teams from initial exploratory meetings through construction and occupancy, specializing in the management of corporate and light commercial/industrial projects and construction administration.
Stephen’s talent and breadth of experience has served him well, making it possible for him to successfully complete visioning and designs for corporate training centers, pharmaceutical offices, law offices, schools, data and security command centers, general office projects, learning commons, flexible school environments, retail installations and new buildings. His aptitude for mastering new concepts and information facilitated the successful design of many projects including a 200,000 square foot office building with parking deck below, a middle school addition, a new ground up field house, a number of small pharmaceutical labs, 400,000 square feet of pharmaceutical office space and a research facility that grows crystals for the electronics industry.
Stephen’s keen ability to listen intently and collaborate with clients to envision and create successful and innovative designs has allowed him to work across sectors and allow that project diversity to enhance designs for all his clients.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia, with a semester spent at the University of Bath, England, he went on to receive a Master of Architecture from New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he graduated First in Class. Stephen is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA); the New Jersey Society of Architects; and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
